Upgrade Your Last Generation MacBook Air or Pro to the Fastest Wi-Fi Standard Available – 802.11ac

The new wireless standard is here for all Macs – 802.11ac. If you have an older MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, the built in AirPort card is only able to use the 802.11n wireless standard which is approximately half the speed of 802.11ac. The AC specification has expected multistation WLAN throughput of at least 1 gigabit per second and a single link throughput of at least 500 megabits per second.

Enter the qCard 2 and 3.

There are two qCards engineered by QuickerTek to match what is inside your Mac. The Macbook Air models have two internal antennas which is why we call it a qCard 2 and the Macbook Pro models have three antennas thus the name qCard 3. Utilizing the same chipset and drivers as the new MacBook Air or Pro model, this card can be used to upgrade PCIe Mac models to the newly announced Wi-Fi standard of 802.11ac! The Blue Tooth 4.0 LE is also added and uses the same number of internal antennas as the latest generation of Macs with 10.10.x.

You can get double the speed you’re getting now with the 802.11n wireless network. 802.11ac uses the 5 gHz spectrum as well as 2.4 gHz standard used with 802.11n. All you have to do is take the old AirPort card out and put the new one in. As long as you have an operating system of 10.10 through 10.12 installed, your PCIe Mac will recognize it instantly, giving you access to 802.11ac speeds at any compatible wireless access 802.11a/b/g/n/ac. If you are somewhere that does not have a wireless access point in the AC spectrum, don’t worry. The qCard is fully backwards compatible, allowing you to connect to any wireless network. There are two versions of the qCard: a two port for the MacBook Air and the three port for the MacBook Pro.

We build these cards with either large or small antenna connectors to suit your needs. They do not work on the unibody MacBook Pro.
