The Q4 Dual Band 802.11a/b/g/n USB network adapter is the fourth generation Quicky, and is an improvement over the previous Quicky models. The Q4 works in both 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz wireless modes, this 802.11a/b/g/n Dual Band unit has the theoretical limit of 144 megabits per second of 802.11n and 300 megabits per second of 802.11a (the the first and second models were 802.11b/g which ran 54 megabits per second). It also has two detachable 3 dBi antenna so that you can connect other antennas.
You can take it with you and use it anywhere you want better
wireless. The antenna and transceiver boost your wireless RF power from a stock 30 milliwatts
to 300 milliwatts, that's ten times the wireless power!
That
means you cannot only see more wireless networks, but when you
decide to connect, you'll also get high speeds that make wireless
networking as solid as being connected using a network cable.
Purpose
Although Apple notebooks are the best on the mobile computing market, they do have one shortcoming, wireless power. Poor signal strength is common and must be dealt with, so why settle for less? The Q4 USB network adapter is an awesome solution for Mac users who demand wireless performance that is significantly improved over what their computers have. In a very small package, the Q4 makes the wireless signal going into the Mac ten times as strong.
Convenience
The Q4 is easy to install with a small software package. No modification whatsoever is required to your Mac. Using the USB standard also allows the device to be powered via the USB port. Additionally if you wish to not have the Q4 hung on your monitor panel feel free to hook it just about anything.
Compatibility
The Q4 Dual Band 802.11a/b/g/n network adapter conforms to the wireless standards 802.11a/b/g/n, making it compatible with all networks and not exclusively AirPort networks. Supports 64/128~bit WEP, WPA2 (AES with IEEE 802.11x) and WPA(TKIP with IEEE 802.11x) wireless encryption.
